As one of the world leaders in the production and export of fresh produce, Brazil is expanding its presence at this year’s Fruit Attraction to be held early next month in Madrid, Spain.
“Abrafrutas will be present at Fruit Attraction with a stand of 256 square meters and around 35 exporters. It is one of the most important events in the sector and Abrafrutas has been present since 2015”, explains Jorge de Souza, technical and project manager at the Brazilian Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters (ABRAFRUTAS).
South American producers and exporters highlight the importance of their food safety and show how they meet the sustainability demands of European markets. “Abrafrutas always promotes Brazilian fruit in Europe, seeking to serve its customers with top quality fruit, respecting food safety demand and sustainability requirements,” says de Souza.
Gideao Guilherme, CEO and Sales Manager of packers and exporting company Fresh Quality in Brazil, says that participating in Fruit Attraction is absolutely essential for their business and growers. “Based on our latest experiences at the show, we’ve noticed a bigger impact in products that aren’t literally fruit, like sweet potatoes and ginger. We’re also aiming to develop a market for vegetables during this fair such as leeks, okra, roots and others. In a long-term view, it is a win-win relationship. This year we have noticed an increase in the number of Spanish companies looking for new products to import.”
“Fresh Quality is looking for new business relationships in the European market to increase the volume delivered in high quality with a good range of products, being close to the Brazilian airport of Guarulhos and the port of Santos, the main places of departure make the competitive logistics. In addition, we are currently encouraging our suppliers to obtain certifications such as GlobalGap”, concludes Guilherme.
